Joanne R. Hill

Joanne R. Hill, 70, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 19, 2024, after a short battle with cancer. She is preceded in death by her father, Leonard, mother Elizabeth, and sister Kathleen.

Joanne leaves family: sister Christine Horak (Anthony), brother Tom Bennett (Debbie), sister Rosemary Allen (Steve), husband of 51 years, Joseph, and sons Aaron Hill (Mindy), Chris Hill (Jill), Andy Hill (Raechel), and Joe Hill (Kate). Joanne also leaves grandchildren Gavin, Nathan, Sadie, Grace, Tyler, and Alex Hill, and also many nieces and nephews.

Joanne was born in Akron, OH on July 8, 1953. After her education at Coventry High School, Joanne became an LPN and worked at Barberton Citizens Hospital from 1972-1974, before starting their family. As the boys grew older, Joanne started a career as a pharmacy technician at Giant Eagle Pharmacy in Montrose and remained there for 30 years until her retirement.

Joanne loved spending time with her family. When she was not with family, Joanne enjoyed the beauty of nature, flowers, and bird watching. Hocking Hills was one of Joanne’s favorite places to visit. Her and Joe made several trips to Hocking Hills and always looked forward to their next visit.

Since retiring, Joanne spent time doing cross-stitch and working on craft projects. Her favorite crafts included Legos, building tiny houses with her sister Christine, creating fairy gardens, and coloring.

Joanne was the kindest and most loving wife and mother a family could ask for. She will be missed dearly.

The family would like to thank the staff at Medina Hospital and Akron General Hospital for their care and support during this difficult time.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to The American Cancer Society/Esophageal Cancer.
